Choosing and Understanding Your Chocolate

Is Orfève a Luxury Chocolate?

That depends on what you mean by “luxury.”

Some brands display it proudly: high prices, grand boutiques, elaborate packaging. It’s a deliberate stance, but it’s not ours.

At Orfève, we don’t claim the word. Because true luxury isn’t declared. It’s felt. It’s lived. It belongs to each individual.

Our approach is different. Quieter, but no less demanding.

We don’t rely on embellishment. No ribbons, no over-packaging. No stylistic effects. Just the essentials: exceptional beans, processed from start to finish with care and precision.

Before we even mold a bar, we spend nearly a week transforming each origin: sorting, roasting, winnowing, refining, conching. Steps that most chocolatiers skip, because they start from ready-made chocolate.

That’s where the difference lies, and perhaps, for some, a new definition of luxury.

For a long time, luxury in chocolate meant appearance: the box, the form, the things that concealed the product rather than revealed it.

We’ve made the opposite choice.

To offer a bar of chocolate that’s unadorned, but perfectly crafted.

A chocolate that respects the bean, its origin, its terroir, and the people who cultivated it.

Today, an Orfève bar costs more than a standard artisanal chocolate.

But it includes all the steps others outsource.

And our ambition, tomorrow, is to make this level of craftsmanship more accessible, without ever compromising on quality.

To us, luxury isn’t a status. It’s attention. Commitment. Respect.
And if some see that as a form of luxury, so be it.

But we prefer to speak of rightness.
