Behind the Scenes at Orfève
At Orfève, each bar embodies a demanding vision of chocolate: an agricultural product, alive, and deeply connected to those who cultivate it.
Being bean-to-bar in Switzerland means more than just processing beans locally, it implies a deep ethical commitment: sourcing responsibly, crafting precisely, and conveying pure emotion without compromise.
Swiss-Made, at the Heart of the Value Chain
All our chocolate is produced in Switzerland, in our Geneva-based manufacture.
We control the entire process, from sorting the beans to wrapping the bars, with no outsourcing or subcontracting.
This autonomy ensures a level of traceability, quality, and precision that only short-chain artisanal production can offer.
Exceptional Cacao, Responsibly Sourced
We don’t choose our beans from a catalog.
Each origin is selected with care, based on three essential criteria:
– the flavor quality of the beans,
– the rigor of post-harvest practices,
– and the human commitment of the producers.
We pay well above market prices to support sustainable supply chains and ensure farmers can make a living from their work.
Sustainability in Practice, Not Just in Words
For us, sustainability isn’t about applying a label. It means:
– supporting balanced agricultural terroirs and well-fermented cacao,
– rejecting ingredients from opaque or industrial supply chains,
– and maintaining an allergen-free production line to ensure safety and clarity for everyone.
We add no flavorings, no lecithin, no foreign fats.
Our recipes are short, our methods precise, and our approach true to the essentials.
Orfève’s Approach
Making sustainable chocolate is not about ticking boxes.
It’s a daily commitment, a sequence of tangible, sometimes demanding, always deliberate choices.
We don’t claim to be perfect. But we do strive for coherence, from soil to bar.
Because truly sustainable chocolate begins long before tasting… And continues long after.
